Tiger's Deep Roots
City Councilor Roman “Tiger” Abeyta was born in Santa Fe, raised on the southside of Santa Fe and graduated from Capital High School. His father Chris Abeyta and mother Jennie Salazar both grew up on Canyon Road and their families have been in Santa Fe since it was a Spanish Colony in 1610. His father still lives on Canyon Road in a home that was built in 1850. Tiger served over 20 years in our City and County governments. Today he is the Chief Professional Officer of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Santa Fe/ Del Norte, a nonprofit organization that serves children and families in Santa Fe and Rio Arriba County. He is a former member of the City Planning Commission, he coaches both girls and boy’s basketball, and he and his wife Geraldine have five sons, a grandson and a granddaughter.
Tiger was elected to the City Council in March 2018. He serves as the Chairman of the City’s Finance Committee and is a member of the City’s Public Works Committee and the Joint City County Solid Waste Management Agency (SWAMA). He is seeking re-election to City Council District 3 which serves the southside of Santa Fe.
